The Mission
The Happie Literacy Advisory Board is dedicated to advancing literacy, equity, and access to quality educational resources for all learners. Through strategic guidance, innovative programming, and community engagement, we support the mission of Happie Literacy Works in empowering educators, students, and underrepresented voices in education and the publishing industry.
Our committee brings together educators, industry experts, and thought leaders to shape impactful literacy initiatives, foster inclusive storytelling, and drive meaningful change in education. Together, we are committed to building a future where every individual has the tools to read, write, and thrive.

Develop and support initiatives that improve literacy rates among diverse student populations & Promote culturally responsive and inclusive literacy instruction

Advocate for policies and practices that eliminate disparities in literacy education & Support underserved and marginalized communities by addressing systemic barriers to learning.
Expand Access to Quality Resources
Ensure all students and educators have access to high-quality books, technology, and learning materials & Partner with organizations to provide schools with equitable funding and support.

- Meeting Type: Virtual
- Meeting Frequency: Quarterly (January, April, July, October)
- Ongoing Engagement: Members will collaborate between meetings through asynchronous communication (e.g., email, shared documents, or discussion platforms).
- Initial Commitment: Volunteer-based participation.
- Revenue Sharing Model: Once HLW products developed from the advisory committee’s recommendations begin generating sales, members will receive:
- 3% of sales revenue from applicable products for up to three years.
- Maximum payout of $10,000 per year, per member.
- The three-year revenue-sharing period begins when product sales start.
- Providing Strategic Guidance – Offer expert advice on literacy initiatives, educational programming, and publishing strategies.
- Curriculum & Content Review – Assess and recommend improvements to literacy-based educational materials and publishing projects.
- Equity & Inclusion Advocacy – Ensure diverse voices and perspectives are represented in literacy and publishing efforts.
- Community Engagement & Partnerships – Build relationships with educators, literacy organizations, and stakeholders to strengthen outreach.
- Program Development Support – Assist in shaping innovative literacy programs, workshops, and public initiatives.
- Policy & Research Advocacy – Stay informed on literacy trends and advocate for policies that support literacy equity and education.
- Grant & Funding Recommendations – Identify potential funding opportunities, partnerships, and sponsorships.
- Public Awareness & Thought Leadership – Represent the council at conferences, panels, and public discussions about literacy and publishing.
Activities the Advisory Board Will Not Be Responsible For:
- Day-to-Day Operations – Committee members should not manage daily logistics, staff, or routine administrative tasks.
- Direct Program Implementation – While they can advise, they should not be directly responsible for running literacy programs or teaching.
- Hiring & Personnel Decisions – They may suggest best practices but should not be involved in staffing decisions.
- Budget Management – While they can recommend funding strategies, financial decision-making should remain with company leadership.
- Editorial Decision-Making – They can provide insights but should not micromanage content creation, book selections, or publishing timelines.
- Company Policy Enforcement – Their role is to advise, not to oversee or enforce company rules and policies.
